I decided to sign up for DreamHost webhosting because they offer a transparent service and accountability for their errors. This is not a faceless corporation, it is an employee-owned company.

Also they offer amazing value for money. The plan I signed up for is only $9.95/month and offers 2TB of bandwidth per month. Since I signed up for 12 months they waived their setup fee.

Some of the typical complaints which abound about all web hosts are addressed by the DreamHost team in their official blog with remarkable candour:

Downtime

DreamHost offers 200GB of webspace and supports a range of services including, IMAP and POP3 e-mail, PHP, Perl, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, WordPress OneClick install and more...

If you want to hear the other side of the story check out the DreamHost Sucks site although you may like to note that the Better Business Bureau gave DreamHost a C rating, not an F as claimed.

Note that most web hosts offer a referral fee (including DreamHost) so glowing reviews without supporting information are best ignored. Review the facts and make your own decision.

Review the plans and sign up.
